Early H1 fork springs

Early H1 fork springs

Postby chris33 » Mon Oct 19, 2015 6:15 pm

Hi all

I have a '71 500 with the 34mm forks and drum brake. Are there any modern springs that fit or does any body have any old springs that are any good.

I understand that it will never handle like a GP machine but are there any springs out there that fit. I've found new springs 28mm dia. and 502 mm long, as long as they are the same loading all I'd need to do is cut them down and dress the ends.

Many thanks folk for any ideas or views, I'm happy to keep my front end, and I know you can get new springs for the later models.

I've found these, that are 5mm longer but have no idea yet about weight.

Ceriani fork springs 26mm dia. 350mm long and 30lb.

How do you work out fork spring rates.
